Screen recording
Recording captures a stretch of on-screen work. It fits a walkthrough, a bug you need to reproduce, or a process you want to keep.
Start recording
- Press the capture shortcut (default
Alt + Q) to open the selection. - Click Record on the capture toolbar. There is no separate global shortcut for recording.
- Adjust the region. On the recording toolbar, choose a format (such as WebM, MKV, GIF, or WebP), a frame rate, and audio (system audio or microphone, as the version supports).
- Start recording. A floating toolbar shows that recording is in progress.
- Click stop when you are done. The file is saved in the local recording folder.
Save and share
After recording, a tray notification can open the folder or save a copy elsewhere. Send the file to a colleague, or edit it first.
Suggestions
- Close unrelated notifications before you record so pop-ups stay out of the frame.
- For a demo, enlarge the important window and slow the clicks down a little.
- If the information is static, prefer a screenshot or a scrolling capture. The file is smaller and easier to mark up.
- GIF, WebP, and similar motion images fit short clips. Use a video format for a longer demo.
