Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 5, 2026
Effective date: September 5, 2026
Version: v1.7
Qianwei Screenshot & Recording (the “Software” or “Service”) is operated by Chengdu Qianwei Technology Co., Ltd. (“we,” “us,” or the “Company”). We take the protection of your personal information seriously. This Policy explains how we collect, store, use, share, disclose, delete, and protect your personal information, and how you may exercise related rights.
This Policy applies to the Software’s desktop client, the website (including qwrj.com), and account and membership services. Please read and fully understand this Policy before using the Service. The desktop client will ask you, at sign-in / registration, to review and agree to this Policy, the Terms of Service, and the Membership Notice through a checkbox or pop-up. The About page also provides those documents and a link to the documentation. The website seeks your choice regarding analytics cookies through a first-visit notice, footer links to the Privacy Policy, Terms of Service, and Membership Notice, and the analytics toggle. Where separate consent is required, we will give additional notice as required by law. The public website and the admin sign-in page themselves do not provide an account-registration checkbox.
This Policy mainly covers:
- 1. How we collect and use your personal information
- 2. How we share, transfer, and disclose your personal information
- 3. Cookies and similar technologies
- 4. Legal bases for processing your personal information
- 5. How we protect and retain your personal information
- 6. Your rights as a personal-information subject
- 7. How we handle minors’ personal information
- 8. Changes to this Policy
- 9. How to contact us, and complaint and reporting channels
- Appendix: Third-party SDKs and services
1. How we collect and use your personal information
(1) Personal information we collect
We may collect and use your personal information in the following scenarios and for the following purposes. If you do not provide information that is necessary for a feature, you may be unable to use that feature, but this does not affect features that do not depend on that information.
We follow the principle of minimum necessity. For processing that is not necessary to provide core services (such as marketing), we will obtain consent as required by law and, where practicable, provide a way to turn it off or withdraw it.
1.1 Core features and device adaptation
To provide screenshot, recording, annotation, and other core features, and to keep the Software running on your device, we may collect or process locally:
- basic device information: manufacturer, device name/model, operating-system type and version, screen resolution, and similar data;
- software runtime information: software version and installation/update-related information;
- device identifiers (such as a device ID, used for adaptation and security).
Screenshots, recordings, annotations, and similar content are processed and stored only on your device. We do not provide cloud sync or backup of screenshots or recordings. Unless you send related files when contacting support or submitting feedback, or laws and regulations require otherwise, we will not upload your screen content to our servers.
1.2 Account registration and sign-in
You may register or sign in by:
- WeChat sign-in: when you scan a code or authorize sign-in, after you agree we may obtain necessary information within the third party’s authorization scope (such as nickname, avatar, and WeChat account identifier) for sign-in, identity recognition, and account binding;
- Email sign-in / registration: you need to provide an email address; we may send a verification code to that email for registration, sign-in, password reset, binding, unbinding, and similar security checks;
- Phone-number capabilities (if enabled in the product): we may collect a mobile number for verification-code checks, sign-in, or security verification. If this is not enabled, we will not collect phone numbers for this purpose.
Third-party accounts are provided by third parties; their rules are governed by the corresponding terms and privacy policies. If you refuse a third-party authorization, you may be unable to use that sign-in method, without affecting other available methods.
After you sign in, the desktop client stores the sign-in credential (token) and necessary account display information (such as email, nickname, and avatar) locally on your device, so you remain signed in the next time you open the Software, until you sign out, the credential expires, or you uninstall the Software or clear local data. The client does not provide a “remember me / auto sign-in next time” checkbox. You may sign out at any time in Settings to clear the local credential. The locally stored credential is used only to access your account and membership status, and does not cause screenshots or recordings to be uploaded to our servers.
1.3 Network security and troubleshooting
To protect account and system security and to troubleshoot issues, we may collect runtime logs, error logs, crash stacks, and necessary device/software environment information.
Crash reports may be submitted by email or support channels, or uploaded to the object-storage service we use for analysis and fixes. We do not collect feature-usage analytics from the desktop client, except information that is required by law or necessary to protect cybersecurity or investigate serious failures.
1.4 Payments
When you purchase membership or other paid services, you may pay through a third-party payment institution that cooperates with us (such as WeChat Pay). We may provide the payment institution with necessary information such as order number, transaction amount, and transaction content to confirm the payment instruction and complete settlement. Payment-account information is processed by the payment institution under its own rules.
1.5 Invoices
If you request an invoice, you may need to provide invoicing information such as the invoice title, taxpayer identification number, and receiving email.
1.6 Notices
We may send service-related notices when necessary by in-product notice, email, SMS, or similar means (such as security verification, order status, or important agreement updates). Some notices related to service security or contract performance may not be fully opt-out.
1.7 Customer support
When you contact us for support, we may verify your identity based on your account and order information, and use the software version, device information, problem description, screenshots, or attachments you provide to investigate. Before sending screenshots or files, please mask ID numbers, bank-card numbers, passwords, and other sensitive information, as well as trade secrets.
1.8 Surveys and feedback
If you take a survey or submit comments by email or a feedback entry, we may collect contact details and feedback you voluntarily provide, to handle issues and improve the product.
1.9 Marketing
After obtaining your separate consent, we may send product updates or marketing messages. You may ask us to stop through the unsubscribe method in the message or the contact methods in this Policy.
(2) System permissions we may request
We will request necessary permissions when you use specific features (just-in-time). Refusing a permission usually affects only the corresponding feature. Permissions may include:
| Permission | Purpose and scenario |
|---|---|
| Screen capture / recording | Core screenshot and recording features |
| Network access | Sign-in, updates, payment, crash reporting, online services |
| File / storage read and write | Saving screenshots and recordings; reading local images |
| Clipboard | Reading and writing text when you copy/paste (generally processed locally only) |
| Notifications (if applicable) | Service-related alerts |
Exact permission names and request timing depend on your device system and software version.
(3) Automated decision-making
We currently do not use your personal information for automated decisions that have a material impact on your rights and interests (for example, automatically refusing service based solely on an algorithm). If we introduce such capabilities in the future, we will notify you as required by law and obtain consent where necessary.
2. How we share, transfer, and disclose your personal information
(1) Sharing
We will not share your personal information with third parties outside the Company, except:
- sharing after obtaining your explicit consent;
- providing information under mandatory requirements of laws, regulations, or judicial or administrative authorities;
- sharing with authorized partners: only to achieve the purposes stated in this Policy, where partners provide necessary services (such as payment, sign-in, or email sending). We share only to the lawful, legitimate, and necessary extent, and require partners not to use the information for unrelated purposes;
- to support online capabilities such as accounts, the website, updates, and crash analysis, we may use self-hosted servers or engage compliant cloud-infrastructure providers for hosting, object storage, content delivery, and security operations. The foregoing infrastructure is not used to provide cloud sync or cloud-drive services for your screenshots or recordings.
See the appendix for the list of third-party SDKs/services.
(2) Transfer
We will not transfer your personal information to other companies, organizations, or individuals, except with your prior explicit consent, or where a merger, acquisition, asset transfer, or similar event requires a transfer and we notify you and protect your rights as required by law; we may also provide information because of laws, regulations, or mandatory requirements.
(3) Disclosure
We publicly disclose your personal information only in the following cases:
- we have obtained your explicit consent;
- content you voluntarily submit in feedback, support communications, or similar scenarios and agree to use externally;
- as required by laws and regulations;
- aggregated analytics that have been statistically processed and do not identify individuals.
3. Cookies and similar technologies
(1) Cookies
To keep the website and online services working, we may use cookies or similar technologies in your browser to maintain sign-in state, protect security, and remember preferences.
Website analytics uses Baidu Analytics (Beijing Baidu Netcom Science and Technology Co., Ltd.). That service may analyze site visits through cookies, visited URLs, IP addresses, and browser and device information. Analytics cookies are not processing that is necessary to browse the website. We will seek your consent through the first-visit notice and the footer analytics toggle; the Baidu Analytics script is loaded and subsequent browsing is reported only after you choose “Agree.” You may switch to “Essential only” in the footer at any time; after that we will not actively load or report to Baidu Analytics. You may also clear or restrict cookies in your browser, which may affect some features.
(2) Similar technologies
We may also use local storage (localStorage) to record your analytics choice (agree or essential only) and to support website features. Related uses will not go beyond the purposes described in this Policy.
4. Legal bases for processing your personal information
We process your personal information on one or more of the following legal bases:
- necessary to conclude or perform a contract with you;
- necessary to fulfill a legal obligation;
- your consent (including separate consent where required by law);
- processing, within a reasonable scope, information you have made public yourself or that has otherwise been lawfully made public;
- other circumstances provided by laws and regulations.
Where processing without consent is permitted by law, we will follow the law. If you have questions about the legal basis, please contact us using Section 9.
5. How we protect and retain your personal information
(1) Storage location
Personal information collected and generated in our operations in the People’s Republic of China is stored in the People’s Republic of China. If we need to provide it outside the PRC in the future, we will strictly comply with applicable laws and fulfill notice, assessment, consent, and other obligations.
(2) Retention period
We retain your personal information only for the shortest period necessary to achieve the purposes described in this Policy; after that we will delete or anonymize it. Examples (longer periods required by law prevail):
- Basic account information: retained while the account exists; after cancellation, deleted or anonymized as required by law, generally starting within fifteen business days after cancellation is verified (except where technical limits such as backup media apply);
- Local client sign-in credential: stored on your device until you sign out, the credential expires, or you uninstall/clear local data; after sign-out, the client stops using that local credential to access your account;
- Orders and transaction records: usually retained for at least three years from completion of the transaction, or a longer period required by law, for transactions, invoicing, after-sales service, and tax compliance;
- Network and security logs (including access, sign-in, and audit logs): retained for no less than six months as required by law for security, troubleshooting, and lawful regulatory cooperation; after six months, retained only for as long as still necessary for those purposes, then deleted or anonymized;
- Local client diagnostic logs: generally retained for no more than six months, or until you clear local files;
- Support and feedback records: generally retained for no more than twenty-four months, or until a dispute is resolved.
If deletion is temporarily not technically feasible (for example, backup media), we will store the data securely and limit further processing, and delete or anonymize it as soon as deletion is possible.
(3) Protective measures
We take reasonably practicable security measures to protect personal information, including access control, protection in transit and at rest, least privilege, security audits, and incident response, to prevent unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or loss. If a personal-information security incident occurs, we will promptly inform you as required by law of the circumstances, possible impact, measures taken or to be taken, and suggestions for self-protection.
Please keep your account, password, and verification codes safe. If risk arises from your own poor custody, please contact us promptly.
6. Your rights as a personal-information subject
Within the scope of applicable law, you have the following rights. To protect security, we may need to verify your identity, and will usually reply within fifteen business days after verification (unless laws provide another period).
(1) Access and copy
You may access your basic account information. To obtain copies of other personal information, contact us at auth@qwrj.com.
(2) Correction and completion
If you find information inaccurate or incomplete, you may correct or update it in product settings or by email.
(3) Deletion
Where statutory conditions are met, you may request deletion of personal information. We will handle the request as required by law; if deletion is technically difficult, we will stop processing other than storage and necessary security protection.
(4) Changing the scope of authorization or withdrawing consent
You may change or withdraw consent by turning off related permissions, stopping use of the corresponding feature, signing out in Settings to clear the local credential, choosing “Essential only” in the website notice or footer to turn off analytics, or cancelling the account. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing based on consent before withdrawal, and does not affect processing we continue on other lawful grounds.
(5) Opting out of marketing
You may refuse marketing messages through the unsubscribe instructions in the message or by emailing us.
(6) Account cancellation
You may apply to cancel your account through official support channels. We will process it promptly after verifying identity; cancellation is generally completed, or arrangements confirmed with you, within fifteen business days. Cancellation is usually irreversible. After cancellation we will delete or anonymize related information, except where laws provide otherwise.
(7) Portability, restriction of processing, and explanation
To the extent applicable law allows, you may request portability, restriction or objection to processing, or an explanation of processing rules. Please email auth@qwrj.com.
(8) Complaints and lawsuits
You may complain to a competent regulator about personal-information protection, or bring a lawsuit in a people’s court with jurisdiction.
(9) Response
For requests that are clearly unfounded, repetitive, or would require excessive technical cost, we may charge a reasonable fee or refuse as permitted by law, and will explain the reasons. If you exercise rights on another person’s behalf, please provide identity and authorization proof.
7. How we handle minors’ personal information
We take the protection of minors seriously.
- Minors under 18: please read this Policy with a guardian and use the Service only after obtaining the guardian’s consent.
- Children under 14: must read this Policy with a guardian and use the Service only after the guardian’s consent; for children’s personal information collected with guardian consent, we use or disclose it only as permitted by law, with guardian consent, or as necessary to protect the child.
If a guardian finds that a child has used the Service without consent, please contact us using the methods in this Policy, and we will promptly handle the related information.
8. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy based on business, legal, or technical changes, and will update the version number and effective date. Starting with v1.4, the desktop client no longer collects or reports feature-usage analytics. Starting with v1.6, desktop sign-in / registration consent covers the Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, and Membership Notice together, and a documentation entry is provided. Starting with v1.7, after a successful desktop sign-in the local credential is stored until you sign out, and there is no “auto sign-in next time” checkbox. After an update, we will notify you through a website announcement, in-product notice, email, or other reasonable means. If an update involves a material change to your rights and interests and the law requires consent again, we will seek your consent as required.
If you do not agree to the updated Policy, you should stop using the Service.
If language versions of this Policy are inconsistent, the Chinese version prevails.
